As an artist, you can have many channels on YouTube including a channel that you own and operate or a Vevo channel. To give artists consistent branding, the image that you upload for your official channel avatar is also the avatar for your other YouTube channels and profiles.
What is shown as your avatar
Your official channel avatar is also the avatar for your other YouTube channels and profiles. What you have set as your official channel depends on the types of channels that you have:
- Owned and operated channel: Your default official channel. This avatar will be shown on all your corresponding channels.
- Vevo channel: If you don't have an owned and operated channel, the image from your Vevo channel is your default avatar. This avatar will be shown on all your corresponding channels.
Update your avatar
Before you start: The channel image from your owned and operated channel is your default avatar. You'll need an Official Artist Channel to change your avatar across your channels. If you don't have an Official Artist Channel, contact your label or distributor.
Once your OAC is active, follow these steps to update your artist image:
- Sign in to YouTube.
- Follow the steps to change your channel's icon. Images should be in JPG, GIF or PNG format with a 1:1 aspect ratio and 800 x 800 px resolution.
The update to your avatar across channels may take longer than 24 hours to process.
