Basic safety
To avoid damaging your phone, accessories or any connected devices and to reduce the risk of fire, burns or electric shock, follow these precautions:
- Remove all protective plastic film before use.
- Do not attempt to open or take apart your phone, adaptor or accessories.
- Do not crush or puncture your phone, adaptor or accessories.
- Do not short external contacts or circuits, expose your phone or adaptor to open flames or lit tobacco products or dispose of them in fire or water.
- Do not use the phone or adaptor near water or other liquids or handle them with wet hands.
- If the phone or adaptor gets wet, do not try to dry it using an oven, microwave or dryer as this may cause damage.
- Do not drop, throw or try to bend your phone or adaptor.
- Do not use the phone or adaptor if they aren't working properly or have been damaged or dropped.
- Do not twist or pinch the USB cable.
- This product is intended for use with a certified Class 2 limited power source rated: 5 Volts DC, maximum 3 Amp; 9 Volts DC, maximum 2 Amp; or both.
Maintain a minimum separation distance of 1.0 cm (0.4 in) between your body and the phone.
To reduce the risk of accidents (and because it’s prohibited by law in most countries), do not use your phone while driving or while operating machinery and do not use it while engaging in other activities that have potentially serious consequences.
While flying in an aircraft or immediately before boarding, use your phone only according to the instructions provided by the airline. Use of a wireless device in an aircraft may disrupt wireless networks, present a hazard to aircraft operation or be illegal. You may be able to use your phone in aeroplane mode.
Safety of radio frequency emissions: Your phone emits radio frequency energy during use. According to the USA Federal Communications Commission (FCC): 'Some health and safety interest groups have interpreted certain reports to suggest that wireless device use may be linked to cancer and other illnesses, posing potentially greater risks for children than adults. While these assertions have gained increased public attention, currently no scientific evidence establishes a causal link between wireless device use and cancer or other illnesses.' Emergency calls
- This phone operates using radio signals, which cannot guarantee connection in all conditions.
- Never rely solely on any wireless phone for emergency communications.
Storage & cleaning
Follow these guidelines when using, storing or cleaning your phone:
- Do not use the phone or adaptor at ambient temperatures lower than 0°C (32°F) or higher than 40°C (104°F). Ideal storage temperatures are 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F).
- Unplug the phone and adaptor before cleaning, during lightning storms or when unused for extended periods of time.
- Use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the device and accessories.
- Do not use any chemical detergent, powder or other chemical agents (such as alcohol or benzene) to clean the phone or accessories.
- The phone and its charger generate heat during normal operation. Avoid prolonged, direct or indirect skin contact, since this may result in discomfort or burns.
Pacemaker and implantable medical device precautions
Your phone receives and transmits using LTE, WCDMA, GSM, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology and contains components that emit electromagnetic fields, which can interfere with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. If you have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, follow these precautions:
- Always keep the phone and its charger more than 16 cm (6 in) from the surface of the skin near the pacemaker or other implanted medical device.
- Hold the phone on the other side of your body from the pacemaker or other implanted medical device.
- Do not carry the phone in a breast pocket or in a pocket near the pacemaker or other implanted medical device.
- If you have questions about using your phone with such a device, consult your health care provider.
- If you suspect your device is interfering with your pacemaker or other implanted medical devices, turn off your phone and consult your doctor for information specific to your medical device.
Power adaptor safety
- When disconnecting the power adaptor from a power outlet, pull on the adaptor, never on the cable.
- This device must be used with an AC adaptor that has been certified with a Limited Power Source output per IEC 60950-1 and that has been qualified per CTIA Certification Requirements for Battery System Compliance to IEEE 1725. This device comes with an AC adaptor that has the proper certification. Separate AC adaptors sold through the Google Store and selected vendors/retailers also have the proper certification. Do not use adaptors or accessories that haven't been approved by Google for use with this phone.
- When charging the phone, make sure that the power adaptor is plugged into a socket near the phone and is easily accessible.
- The phone should be connected only to adaptors that bear the USB-IF logo or have completed the USB-IF compliance program.
Battery safety & disposal
- This phone contains a Lithium-ion polymer or Lithium-ion battery, which meets the standard IEEE 1725. Do not attempt to remove the battery yourself. To replace it, take the device to a service centre authorised by Google. Use of an unqualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage or other hazard.
- If the battery leaks, do not allow the leaking fluid to come into contact with eyes, skin or clothing. If the fluid is already in contact with the eyes, do not rub them. Rinse the eyes with clean water immediately and seek medical advice.
- Keep a leaking battery away from fire, as there is a danger of ignition or explosion.
- Dispose of your phone, battery and accessories according to local regulations. Do not dispose of them in normal household waste. Improper disposal may lead to fire, explosion and/or other hazards.
- Keep the battery away from children.
Hearing protection
Prolonged exposure to loud sounds (including music) can cause hearing loss. To prevent possible hearing damage, lower the earphone or headset volume to a safe and comfortable level, and avoid listening at high volume for prolonged periods of time.
Child safety
Your phone contains (or comes with) small parts, plastic elements and parts with sharp edges that may cause an injury or create a choking hazard. Do not leave your phone and its accessories within the reach of small children or allow them to play with it. They could hurt themselves or others, or could accidentally damage the phone. Consult a physician immediately if small parts are swallowed.
Environmental restrictions
- To prevent damage to your phone's parts or internal circuits, do not use or store it or its accessories in dusty, smoky, damp or dirty environments or near magnetic fields.
- Keep away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight. Do not leave your phone inside a vehicle or in places where the temperature may exceed 60°C (140°F), such as on a car dashboard, window sill, near a heating vent or behind glass that is exposed to direct sunlight or strong ultraviolet light for extended periods of time. This may damage the product, overheat the battery or pose a risk of fire or explosion.
- Do not use, store or transport your phone where flammables or explosives are stored (in petrol stations, fuel depots or chemical plants, for example). Do not use your phone where blasting operations are in progress or in potentially explosive atmospheres such as fuelling areas, fuel storehouses, below deck on boats, fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust or metal powders. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death.

UNITED STATES
FCC regulatory compliance
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.
If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Google could void your authority to operate the equipment.
Pixel and Pixel XL comply with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
- These devices may not cause harmful interference.
- These devices must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Body worn operation
Pixel complies with radio frequency specifications when used near your ear or at a distance of 1.0 cm (0.4 in) from your body. Pixel XL complies with radio frequency specifications when used near your ear or at a distance of 1.0 cm (0.4 in) from your body. Ensure that device accessories, such as a device case and device holster, are not composed of metal components. Keep the device away from your body to meet the distance requirement.
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) information
Pixel and Pixel XL are also designed to meet the requirements for exposure to radio waves established by the Federal Communications Commission (USA).
The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) limit adopted by the USA is 1.6 W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue. The highest SAR value reported to the FCC for this device type complies with this limit.
Pixel maximum SAR values as reported to the FCC are:
- 0.92 W/kg when holding it to your ear
- 0.58 W/kg when properly worn on the body
- 0.58 W/kg when using the Wi-Fi hotspot function
Pixel XL maximum SAR values as reported to the FCC are:
- 0.89 W/kg when holding it to your ear
- 0.56 W/kg when properly worn on the body
- 0.56 W/kg when using the Wi-Fi hotspot function
Class 1 laser product
Pixel and Pixel XL are Class 1 laser devices.
The design of these products incorporates optics and protective housing such that there is no access to a level of laser radiation above Class 1. These products comply with FDA-standards 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11, except for deviations pursuant to Laser Notice No. 50, dated 24 June 2007.
Caution: Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC)
Pixel and Pixel XL have been evaluated and certified to be compatible with hearing aids per technical specification ANSI C63.19.
There are two measures of hearing aid compatibility:
- M rating, which is a measure of immunity to radio frequency interference for acoustic coupling hearing aids;
- T rating, which is a measure of performance when used with an inductive coupling (telecoil) hearing aid.
Pixel is rated M4/T4, and Pixel XL is rated M4/T4, according to the FCC hearing aid compatibility regulations for wireless devices.
As per FCC rules, a mobile phone is considered hearing aid compatible if rated M3 or M4 for acoustic coupling or T3 or T4 for inductive coupling.
These phones have been tested and rated for use with hearing aids for some of the wireless technologies that they use. However, there may be some newer wireless technologies used in these phones that have not yet been tested for use with hearing aids. It is important to try the different features of your phone thoroughly and in different locations, using your hearing aid or cochlear implant, to determine if you hear any interfering noise. Consult your service provider or Google for information on hearing aid compatibility. If you have questions about return or exchange policies, consult your service provider or phone retailer.
These devices have not been rated for hearing aid compatibility with respect to Wi-Fi operation.
California notice
This product or its packaging contains Bisphenol A (BPA), a substance known to the state of California to cause reproductive harm.
CANADA
Industry Canada, Class B
This Class B digital apparatus complies with Canadian ICES-003.
Notice: The Industry Canada regulations provide that changes or modifications not expressly approved by Google could void your authority to operate this equipment.
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) information
The radiated output power of Pixel and Pixel XL is below the Industry Canada (IC) radio frequency exposure limits. These devices have been evaluated for and shown compliant with the IC Radio Frequency (RF) Exposure limits. These devices should be used in a manner such that the potential for human contact during normal operation is minimised.
When using the device next to your body (other than in your hand or against your head), maintain a distance of 1.0 cm from your body for Pixel and 1.0 cm from your body for Pixel XL, to be consistent with how each device is tested for compliance with RF exposure requirements. Ensure that device accessories, such as a device case and device holster, are not composed of metal components.
Pixel maximum SAR values as reported to the IC are:
- 0.92 W/kg when holding it to your ear
- 0.58 W/kg when properly worn on the body
- 0.58 W/kg when using the Wi-Fi hotspot function
Pixel XL maximum SAR values as reported to the IC are:
- 0.89 W/kg when holding it to your ear
- 0.56 W/kg when properly worn on the body
- 0.56 W/kg when using the Wi-Fi hotspot function
Industry Canada (IC) Notices
These devices comply with Industry Canada licence-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) these devices may not cause interference and (2) these devices must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.
Warning:
(i) The device for operation in the band 5150–5250 MHz is only for indoor use to reduce the potential for harmful interference to co-channel mobile satellite systems;
(ii) The maximum antenna gain permitted for devices in the bands 5250–5350 MHz and 5470–5725 MHz shall comply with the e.i.r.p. limit; and

Ensure that device accessories, such as a device case and device holster, are not composed of metal components. Keep the device away from your body to meet the distance requirement. For Pixel, the highest Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) value reported for this device type when tested at the ear is 0.33 W/kg, and when properly worn on the body is 0.61 W/kg. Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) & Batteries Directive
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires that all Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), including your phone and its accessories, must be marked with the symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol means that the equipment must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste. Disposing of WEEE together with normal waste may pose a risk to the environment and to human health, due to certain substances used in EEE and their batteries.
Under the WEEE Directive, each EU Member State is responsible for achieving a high level of collection of WEEE for treatment, recovery and environmentally-sound disposal. Before throwing away your device, think for a minute about how to reduce the amount of WEEE you create. You could, for example, reuse it, recover it or turn it into artwork. By simply extending the life of your device, you will have reduced waste and helped the EU achieve its objectives.
The success of this EU policy will depend on your active contribution in returning your WEEE to the appropriate facilities dedicated to the disposal of such waste. You should contact your local authority or your retailer for details about the return and collection points available.
RoHS compliance

INDIA
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) information
Your phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. It complies with the international guidelines in relation to the limiting of human exposure to electromagnetic fields and has been specifically designed to meet the guidelines for exposure to radio waves established by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India ('DoT'). The guidelines use a unit of measurement known as Specific Absorption Rate ('SAR') which is a unit of body-absorbed radio frequency quantity when the phone is in use. The SAR limit in India for mobile devices is 1.6 W/kg over a mass of 1 gram of human tissue.
Pixel complies with these guidelines when used near your ear or at a distance of 1.0 cm from your body. Pixel XL complies with these guidelines when used near your ear or at a distance of 1.0 cm from your body. Ensure that device accessories, such as a device case and device holster, are not composed of metal components. Keep the device away from your body to meet the distance requirement. For Pixel, the highest Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) value reported for this device type when tested at the ear is 0.59 W/kg, and when properly worn on the body is 0.62 W/kg. For Pixel XL, the highest Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) value reported for this device type when tested at the ear is 0.46 W/kg, and when properly worn on the body is 0.45 W/kg.

While most of the laboratory studies have been unable to find a direct link between exposure to radio frequency radiation and health, the DoT has prescribed the following precautionary measures while using the mobile handset:
- Use a wireless hands-free system (headphone, headset) with a lower power Bluetooth emitter.
- Make sure that the mobile phone has a low SAR.
- Keep your calls short or send a text message (SMS) instead. This advice applies especially to children, adolescents and pregnant women.
- Use mobile phone when the signal quality is good.
- People having active medical implants should preferably keep the mobile phone at least 15 cm away from the implant.
Recycling, E-waste Management and Handling Statement
In India, this label indicates that this product should not be thrown away with household waste. It should be deposited at an appropriate facility to allow recovery and recycling.
Google declares that your phone has been designed and manufactured in compliance with E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 (hereafter 'the Rules') and is specifically in compliance with Rule 16 (1) on the reduction in the use of hazardous substances in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment and their maximum allowed concentrations by weight in the homogeneous materials (except for the exemptions listed in schedule II).
Improper handling, disposal, accidental breakage, damage or improper recycling of e-waste may present risks, including, but not limited to, fire, explosion and/or other hazards and uncontrolled waste disposal which may be detrimental to/have adverse effects on the environment as it prevents reuse of resources. Some e-waste may contain hazardous chemicals which, if disposed improperly, may make water, soil and other natural resources toxic. Improper disposal may cause harm to plant, animal and human life.
