To share or stream content, you can project your Pixel phone's screen through casting or through a wired connection.
Cast your screen
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- Tap Connected devices Connection preferences Cast.
- Choose to cast a single app or your entire screen.
- On the list, tap the device where you want to show your screen.
Tip: You can add Cast to Quick Settings. Find out about Quick Settings.
Stop casting your screen
- Swipe down from the top of your phone's screen.
- On the Cast notification, tap Disconnect.
Connect your phone to a display device (Pixel 8 and later)
Use a cable to connect your Pixel phone to a display device to:
- Mirror content: You can mirror your phone's entire screen to an external monitor or TV.
- Project content: You can present slides from your phone onto a display device. You can also access the speaker notes on your phone for a seamless presentation.
Tip: This feature works on Google Slides and may not work on other third-party apps.
Important: To use this feature, you must use a display device that supports DisplayPort or HDMI to USB-C cable.
To project content from your Pixel phone into a display device:
- Plug the DisplayPort or HDMI cable into the display device.
- Plug the USB-C cable into your Pixel phone.
- Select the Mirror display dialogue that appears on your phone.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Share your app screen on a video call
When you use a video conference app like Google Meet, you can share a single app or the entire screen displayed on your device. Participants can follow along as you navigate an app or your screen.
Start app screen sharing- From a video conferencing app, choose to share your screen.
- When prompted, tap A single app.
- From the app selector, tap an app that you want to share.
- Start sharing.
- In Google Meet, start a video meeting. Learn more about Google Meet.
- At the bottom, tap Present now .
- Tap Present a single app.
- From the app selector, tap an app that you want to present.
Tips:
- Participants can only view the content of the app that you have selected.
- When you share your screen from an app, participants can see only that app.
- When you navigate to other apps in the background, the stream is paused and others can see only your selected app.
- Your notifications and status bar are hidden.
You can screencast from any screen on your phone with Quick Settings. You can share your entire screen or just a single app. Learn more about Quick Settings.
- Swipe down twice from the top of your screen.
- Tap Cast.
End in app
- At the bottom, tap Present now .
- Tap Stop presenting.
End in Quick settings
- Swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Tap Stop presenting.
End by ending meeting or locking your screen
- At the bottom, tap Leave call .
- Your presentation stops.
Tip: Until you stop sharing, participants can see the last frame that you shared before you locked your screen.
End by closing app
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold until a list of active apps displays.
- Swipe up on an app to close it.
