Charge your Pixel phone
Use Battery Share to wirelessly charge Qi-certified phones or accessories, like Pixel Buds, by setting your accessory or other phone on the back of your Pixel phone to charge. Battery Share is available on Pixel 5 and later devices, excluding Pixel 6a, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8a, Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Over time, your Pixel phone's battery may decline in performance due to usage patterns, temperature and age. To help preserve battery life, some Pixel phones may automatically adjust their charging to manage device and battery temperatures. In some cases, this could result in slower charging speed.

'Charging temporarily limited' (Pixel 3 and later)
To protect your battery health and help extend its lifespan, your phone automatically limits charging to about 70%–80% under certain conditions, such as:
- Continuous charging for more than a few hours under high temperatures
- Continuous charging for more than several days
When this feature is turned on, you will receive a notification that says 'Protecting your battery'. A message that says 'Charging optimised to protect your battery' is also displayed in the Settings app under Battery.
Tip: This feature is automatically deactivated when the phone no longer meets the conditions listed above. You'll know that the feature is no longer active when the phone starts to charge to 100%.
If you want to override the battery protection feature and enable the phone to charge to 100%, tap on the 'Charge to full' link in the Settings app under 'Battery' or restart your Pixel phone.
Tip: The next time that your phone meets the above conditions, this feature will automatically activate again.
Extend battery life on your Pixel phone
Get the most life from your batteryTo help your phone’s battery last longer for the duration of the phone’s life, take care of the battery and reduce battery drain.
To help a dying battery last until you can plug in your phone, you can turn on Battery Saver. To stretch your remaining battery power, you can also make temporary changes to your settings.
To have apps that only use your phone's battery when you need them to, keep Adaptive Battery and battery optimisation on. These settings are on by default.
Learn how to optimise your battery.
The Pixel battery constantly learns your behaviours and optimises itself based on your most recent app usage. When you set up a new device or after a factory reset, optimisation may take up to a few weeks to take full effect. For best results, keep Adaptive Battery and battery optimisation on.
