To search and add stops along your route, use Google Maps on Apple CarPlay. You can find details about your stops, like petrol prices and detour times.
What you need
- iPhone 5 and above
- iOS 12 and above
- Google Maps version 5.24 and above
- CarPlay supported car model
Navigate via CarPlay
- On your CarPlay, open the Google Maps app

- In the top bar, tap Add destination.
- Select a destination.
- Tap Go.
Report traffic incidents during navigation
Important: Some incidents can only be reported in certain countries.
To help improve Maps, you can share information along your route. Reports are anonymous and appear on the map where you add them on your route:
- While you navigate, on the side of your screen, tap Report

- On the 'Report' screen, choose the type of incident that you want to report:
- Crash
- Congestion
- Mobile speed camera
- Police
- Roadworks
- Lane closure
- Stalled vehicle
- Object on road
- Crash

Tip: Only make a report if it's safe to do so.
View and vote on traffic incidents reported by others
If someone else reported a traffic incident, you’ll find it on the map as you move closer. Depending on your alert settings, you may also hear a warning.
When you're near the incident, you’ll find a prompt that asks 'Is this still here?'. To let others know if the report is still true, tap Still there or Not there.
Search for stops during navigation
- To show the top menu bar, tap anywhere on the screen while you navigate.
- Tap Add Stop.
- Select a destination:
- Gas stations
- Restaurants
- Grocery shops
- Coffee shops
- Search

- Find a specific place:
McDonald’s. - Find a type of place:
pharmacy.
Tip: These categories may be different based on your location.
- Find a specific place:

- To cycle between search results, tap Before

Tip: The arrows only appear if there’s more than one search result. - Tap Add stop.

- On your CarPlay: At the top right, tap Exit

- On your iPhone: Tap X next to the stop that you want to remove.
Tip: If you don’t find your route information on your iPhone, tap the home button to find your stops.
