Troubleshooting tips for Google Pixel Watch

How to Troubleshoot your Google Pixel Watch

Learn how to fix common issues on Google Pixel Watch.

Blank or frozen watch face and touchscreen

If Google Pixel Watch displays a blank watch face, freezes, or the touchscreen stops working, a restart should resolve it.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, press and hold the crown for 3 seconds.
  2. Scroll down and tap Restart.

Note: If your watch screen is still unresponsive after taking these steps, perform a hard reset. Long press the crown and side button until you see the white G, around 20 seconds but may take longer.

Pixel Watch won't pair with phone

Important: Google Pixel Watch does not have a physical reset button.

Don’t insert any items, such as paper clips, into the mic hole on the side of the Pixel Watch, or the charging pins on the back of Pixel Watch 2 and 3, as this can cause damage.

A factory reset will help resolve multiple issues you may encounter in the Google Pixel Watch app including:

  • Forgotten pin or passcode
  • "Something went wrong" error message

To resolve these issues, factory reset your Google Pixel Watch and then reconnect your Google Pixel Watch with your phone.

Tip: After you reset your watch to factory settings, all apps, settings, and data on your watch are erased.

On your phone

  1. On your phone, open the Google Pixel Watch app Google Pixel Watch.
  2. Tap System and then Reset and unpair watch.

On your watch

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap System.
  3. Scroll down and tap Disconnect & reset and then Ok .

Note: If this does not work, reset through your phone's Google Pixel Watch app.

Reconnect your phone and watch with Set up Google Pixel Watch.

Forgot PIN or passcode

There are several ways to reset your watch if you have forgotten your PIN or passcode.

Reset from the Google Pixel Watch app: You can reset Google Pixel Watch to factory settings from the Google Pixel Watch app.

Reset remotely: You can reset to factory settings remotely from android.com/find.

Reset from Fastboot:

  1. Turn off Google Pixel Watch.
  2. Wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on by pressing the crown.
  3. When the watch screen displays the white "G" icon, tap the upper-left and lower-right corners on the watch face screen at the same time. The watch will go into "Fastboot" mode.
  4. Press the side button next to the crown to scroll down.
  5. When "Recovery Mode" is highlighted, press the crown. The message "No Command" will appear on the watch face.
  6. Press and hold the crown and swipe up on your screen at the same time. A debug screen will appear on the watch face.
  7. Swipe down until "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" is highlighted.
  8. Swipe right to reset your watch and PIN.
  9. Swipe right again to confirm.

After resetting, Set up Google Pixel Watch again.

Not connected to Wi-Fi

A "Network error" message in the Google Pixel Watch app may indicate that your phone is not connected to Wi-Fi. As long as your Google Pixel Watch's Wi-Fi is on, it'll connect automatically to Wi-Fi networks saved on your phone. Make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and then check to ensure Wi-Fi is turned on in your watch's settings.

  1. On Google Pixel Watch, swipe down and then tap Settings .
  2. Tap Connectivity and then Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is set to off, tap the Wi-Fi switch to turn it on.
  3. If it doesn't already have a connection, tap Add network.
  4. If it requires a password, tap Password. When prompted, enter the password on your watch.

Tip: Your watch can't connect to Wi-Fi networks that take you to a page before you can connect (for example, Wi-Fi networks at places like hotels or coffee shops). It also can't connect to 5GHz networks.
