You can cast video and music from another device to your Pixel Tablet's screen, or cast media, your entire screen or a specific app from your Pixel Tablet to another device that works with Google Cast, like a smart TV.
Important: To dock your Pixel Tablet or use Hub Mode, you need a Charging Speaker Dock. You can purchase the Pixel Tablet with or without a dock, or purchase a dock separately.
Cast to your Pixel Tablet
If you want to cast media to your Pixel Tablet, you need to attach your tablet to a Charging Speaker Dock. Before you start, make sure that you connect your tablet to the same Wi-Fi network as your cast devices.
You can transfer and control music or video across different cast devices, including:
- Cast speakers
- Smart displays
- Devices that work with Google Cast and Google TV built-in
To cast music or video to your Pixel Tablet:
- Make sure that your Pixel Tablet is on the same Wi-Fi network as the device that you want to cast from.
- Make sure that your Pixel Tablet is attached to a Charging Speaker Dock.
- Open your preferred app play the content that you want to cast.
- Tap Cast tap the name of your Pixel Tablet.
- The media will play on your Pixel Tablet.
Cast from your Pixel Tablet to another device
You can cast content from a Google Cast-enabled app or your Pixel Tablet's entire screen to a device that works with Google Cast, like a smart TV.
Cast from a Google Cast-enabled app
- On your Pixel Tablet, open any Google Cast-enabled app.
- Play the content that you want to cast.
- Tap Cast tap the device that you want to cast to.
- To stop the cast, tap Cast the name of your Pixel Tablet.
Cast your entire screen to another device
- On your Pixel Tablet, swipe down from the top of the screen to access your Quick Settings.
- Tap Screen cast tap the device that you want to cast to tap Start casting.
- If the 'Screen cast' tile doesn't appear in your Quick Settings, tap Edit drag the Screen Cast tile to the top section tap Back .
- If screens don't appear when you tap Screen cast, make sure that the destination device is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your tablet.
- To stop the cast, swipe down from the top of your screen tap Screen cast Disconnect.
Cast a single app to another device
You can cast a specific app on your Pixel Tablet to another device's screen. Only the app that you choose is shared on the device's screen.
- Swipe down from the top of your screen.
- Tap Screen cast tap the device that you want to cast to A single app Start casting.
- If the 'Screen cast' tile doesn't appear in your Quick Settings, tap Edit drag the Screen Cast tile to the top section tap Back .
- If screens don't appear when you tap Screen cast, make sure that the destination device is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your tablet.
- Tap the app that you want to share to start casting your screen.
- To stop the cast, swipe down from the top of the screen tap Screen cast Disconnect.
- Note: You can also close the app or lock your device to stop casting.
Troubleshoot issues with casting to or from your Pixel Tablet
If the cast icon doesn't appear
- Make sure that the app that you're using is cast-enabled.
- Toggle Wi-Fi off and on.
- Close and re-open the app, then try to cast again.
If a device isn't available to cast to
- Make sure that the device that you want to cast to is cast-enabled.
- Toggle Wi-Fi off and on.
- Turn the cast-enabled device off and on again.
