Customize video, audio, and image formatting in Vids (Workspace Labs)

Important: This article refers to Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI Features. To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.

You can adjust the formatting of a video clip, audio clip, or image you’ve added to a scene’s canvas in Google Vids. Formatting options include:

  • Video clip formatting: Animation, sound, playback options (timing and looping), and other format options like size & rotation.
  • Audio formatting: Sound, audio transition, and timing.
  • Image formatting: Background removal, animation, and other format options like size & rotation.

Adjust video clip formatting

You can customize the formatting of a video clip playback including timing, volume, transitions, position, and more:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Open a scene in the timeline.
  3. Click a video clip in your canvas to find options that include:
    • Change animation : Customize the entry and/or exit of a video clip.
    • Sound : Adjust the volume and fade of a video clip.
    • Playback options : Adjust start and end time and add looping.
    • Format options , which includes:
      • Size & rotation
      • Position
      • Drop shadow
      • Alt text

Adjust audio formatting

You can customize the formatting of an audio clip playback including volume and audio transition:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. In the timeline below the canvas, click an audio track and then Sound .
  3. In the Sound side panel, you can adjust:
    • Sound
    • Audio transition

Tip: You can also customize the timing of audio tracks by dragging the track to left or right. Learn how to control audio timing and transitions with audio tracks.

Adjust image formatting

You can customize the formatting of an image including size & rotation, position, drop shadow, and more:

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Open a scene in the timeline.
  3. Click any image on the canvas.
  4. Select an option:
    • Edit image : To remove background or expand.
    • Change animation .
    • Format options , which includes:
      • Size & rotation
      • Position
      • Recolor
      • Adjustments
      • Drop shadow
      • Alt text

Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
