Report inappropriate content
You can report inappropriate content on a computer or mobile device. Before you report content, read the policy.
Computer
Report inappropriate reviews
- Go to Google Maps.
- Search for a business by its name or address.
- Select the business from the search results.
- On the Business page select ‘Reviews’.
- Scroll to the review that you would like to report.
- Click Menu Report review.
- In the window that appears, complete the form.
- Click Submit.
Report inappropriate photos and videos
- Go to Google Maps.
- Search for the business and select it from the results.
- In the panel on the left, click any photo or video. If there are multiple photos or videos, scroll through them until you see the photo that you would like to report.
- At the top left, click Menu Report a problem.
- In the window that appears, complete the form.
- Click Submit.
Report inappropriate questions and answers
- Go to Google Maps.
- Search for the business and select it from the results.
- In the panel on the left, scroll down to the Questions and Answers section and click on 'More questions’.
- Select the Question or Answer that you would like to report and tap and click on Report question/Report answer.
- Fill in the form that appears and click ‘Submit report’.
Mobile
To report review
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Search for the business and select it from the results.
- Swipe to the right until you see the reviews section.
- Tap the review that you wish to report and scroll down till you see and select ’Report review’.
- In the window that appears, complete the form.
- Tap Submit.
Report inappropriate photos and videos
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Search for the business and select it from the results.
- Swipe to the right until you see the photo or video that you would like to report.
- Tap the photo or video Report at the bottom right.
- In the window that appears, complete the form.
- Tap Submit.
Report inappropriate questions and answers
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Search for the business and select it from the results.
- Scroll to the Questions and Answers section and tap on 'See all questions'.
- Select the ‘Question’ or ‘Answer’ that you want to report.
- Next to the question or answer, tap More .
- Tap Report question or Report answer.
What to expect after you report a review
We have a feature on the Google Maps app where you can track your reports for reviews. The Reports section offers a view of all reported reviews. Reports made anytime before this feature was available may not be accessible. The status of a report can vary depending on its stage, and you will see one of the following updates:
- Processing report: We have received your report.
- Content removed: The reported content has been removed from Maps.
- Content not removed: The content has not been removed because either your account has been restricted or we do not have enough information to support the removal.
- Content restored: The content was reinstated because we found new information to support restoring the content.
- Report cancelled: The content or the place was edited or removed and your report was cancelled.
If we do not remove the content that you reported, you may be eligible to submit one appeal. Additional resolution options may be available. Learn more about European Union Digital Services Act resolution options.
Note: We reserve the right to either reinstate or take down content, irrespective of whether your report was accepted or not accepted.
Fix your content
You can edit your content on a computer or mobile device.
Computer
To edit or delete a review
- Go to Google Maps.
- Click Menu on the top left-hand corner.
- In the panel on the left, click on ‘Your contributions’ and select ‘Reviews’.
- Choose the review that you wish to edit and, click Menu and select one of 3 options ‘Edit review’, ‘Delete review’ or ‘Add a photo’.
- If you choose ‘Edit review’, then in the window that appears, complete the form. Click Post.
- If you choose ‘Delete review’ then in the window that appears, confirm the ‘Delete’ option.
- If you choose ‘Add a photo’, then in the window that appears, select the photo or video that you wish to add and click ‘Select’.
To delete a photo or video
- Go to Google Maps.
- Click Menu on the top left-hand corner.
- In the panel on the left, click on ‘Your contributions’ and select ‘Photos’.
- Choose the photo or video that you wish to delete, click Menu and click on ‘Delete this photo’ or ‘Delete this video’, and then in the window that appears, select ‘Delete’.
Mobile
To edit or delete a review
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Click on the profile button on the top right-hand corner.
- In the menu that appears, select ‘Your profile’.
- Tap the review you wish to edit and select either ‘Edit review’ or ‘Delete review’.
- If you select ‘Edit review’, then in the window that appears, complete the form and tap ‘Post’.
- If you select ‘Delete review’, then in the window that appears, tap ‘Yes’.
To edit or delete a photo or video
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Click on the profile button on the top right-hand corner.
- In the menu that appears, select ‘Your profile’ and then tap 'See all photos'.
- Tap the photo or video that you wish to edit or delete.

- To add a caption to the photo or video tap on add a caption, then tap on
To edit or delete a question or answer
- Open the Google Maps app.
- Click on the profile button on the top right-hand corner.
- In the menu that appears, select ‘Your profile’ and then scroll down to ‘Other contributions’ and tap ‘Q&A’.
- Tap the question or answer that you wish to edit or delete.
- To delete, tap on ‘Delete question’ or ‘Delete answer’.
- To edit an answer – tap on the answer that you wish to edit, then click on and once you have edited, tap on ‘Save’.
- To edit a question – tap on the question that you wish to edit and tap on ‘Edit question’. Once you have edited the question, tap on ‘Save’.
