[UA] Upload data use policy [Legacy]

You are viewing a legacy article about Universal Analytics. Learn more about Google Analytics 4 replacing Universal Analytics.
Note: This Upload Data Use Policy applies only to data uploaded to Google Analytics, and does not apply to “Customer Data” as defined in your Google Analytics terms of service (i.e. data collected through use of the Google Analytics Tracking Code).

When you upload data to Google Analytics (for example via API or a manually uploaded CSV or Measurement Protocol) (“Upload Data”), you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce and modify such Upload Data for the purpose of providing the Google Analytics service, subject to your existing Google Analytics terms of service. Make sure you have the necessary rights to grant us this license, and for using the Upload Data with Google Analytics, prior to uploading it. You will not upload any data that allows Google to personally identify an individual (such as names, social security numbers, email addresses, or any similar data), or data that permanently identifies a particular device (such as a mobile phone’s unique device identifier if such an identifier cannot be reset), even in hashed form.

If you upload any data that allows Google to personally identify an individual, your Google Analytics account can be terminated, and you may lose your Google Analytics data.
