What's new with TalkBack 12.1

With TalkBack 12.1, there are automatic captions for unlabelled images that contain text and a new window navigation mode.

Window navigation

Window navigation mode lets you switch between different sections on your screen, like the notification bar, main content and keyboard.

To change windows:

  • On devices with multi-finger gestures: With four fingers, swipe down.
  • On devices without multi-finger gestures: In one motion, swipe up then down to change reading controls. Repeat gesture until the window navigation mode is selected, then swipe down with one finger to navigate to the next window.

Automatic captions for images with text

TalkBack reads the text to you that appears in images that don't have a label. Your device automatically processes the image, which means that images aren't sent to a server and you don't need an Internet connection.
