Run a delta migration

File migration for the new data migration service is currently in beta and subject to the Pre-General Availability Offerings Terms in the Google Workspace Service Specific Terms.

After you successfully migrate data, you can still move any newly added or updated files or folders to your target account before you exit the migration. Transfer the new content by running a delta migration.

What is a delta migration?

During a delta migration, any files or folders that have been added or updated in your source account since your last migration are migrated to your target account. The delta migration service also identifies changes to previously migrated files or folders, such as changes to permissions, and updates the files or folders on the target account.

A delta migration skips over objects that have already successfully migrated and haven't been updated on the source account. These items are marked as skipped.

  • Adding a user to the source map: The user’s Microsoft OneDrive account is migrated to Google Workspace.
  • Deleting a user from the source map: The user’s Microsoft OneDrive account is not included in the migration, but any files or folders that were already migrated to Google Workspace won’t change.

What happens if I change the identity map?

Adding user

Any files or folders from the Microsoft OneDrive account will not migrate but permissions will.

Deleting user
